Aikatsu Stars! – 067

Hair styles and bathingsuits and surprises, oh my!

Three whole treasures in one episode! I couldn’t have made myself happier if I tried.

There will be some server maintenance and moving starting tomorrow, so if the site goes down, don’t be afraid (if you can even see this message).

  1. Thank you!

As we get closer to the middle of the season, I wonder if Stars will go the same route as the first series, and introduce a new character who will take over as main character in season 3. I hope this one continues on into a season 3, and even a season 4. It took me a while to get into it after how much I loved the first series, but I am really enjoying this one now.

    • This would be interesting! Bandai is so unpredictable though. Sales for aikatsu have apparently been poor (in the recent Bandai quarterly report, Aikatsu is no longer on the list of top 10 IPs) but that could be down to many things. Apparently Aistars season 2 hasn’t had much merch produced in the first place! I’m still confident that Aikatsu will hopefully continue though, since it’s Bandai’s baby! Vs most of the other properties on the report which they produce the toys/games for.

Because of this apparent decline in sales, I wonder if they’d want to switch up casts again (I’m not sure if the focus on Dreaca/Akari made the sales and interest in the series decrease or bc of merch etc). We shall see though! 🙂

  2. Thank you!

I have a simple request. Can you please try to keep the 3-D rendered music video part in each episode as high quality as possible? The quality is quite bad compared to the rest of the episode. I love the MV’s and i take them from the episodes you upload so that i can watch and listen to them anytime.

    • I’ll let you in on a little secret of our encoding process. We recently changed the channel we rip from specifically to keep the video quality as high as possible (while not waiting for a channel that airs like 4 days late). In addition, the algorithm we use to encode creatively targets the CG portions to devote more processing to them than the rest of the episode. We do not, however, do scenefiltering for various reasons. Even then, the size of the encodes still end up being rather high. If you think the quality has decreased at some point, it’s because of the Japanese broadcasting system, not because of us.
